High-heeled shoes are a type of footwear that not only elevates the wearer's heels, but also their level of confidence! Women love to show off their high-heeled shoes! Most men do not understand the secret behind this passion except that it is a 'feminine thing.' I guess heels are part of a woman's desire to look taller, sexier and elegant. Therefore, high heels come in a wide variety of styles, colours, and shapes. Some pointed heels are so high that they make the legs appear slimmer; an aspect all women love, no matter how old or young they are! High heels add delicate grace to women's personality.

Any footwear that has heels more than 2.5 to 3.5 centimetres long are considered 'mid heels.' Extremely high-heeled shoes, exceeding five inches in all are not advised by doctors. These place intense pressure on toes. I have seen large women wearing high heels and wonder how they manage to balance their weight. It must be tough on them! I am sure many of us have seen such women in malls, and laughed. I do it all the time.

In the past, cowboys wore high-heeled shoes. But, men do not wear them anymore unless they have a genuine medical reason. So, do not get me wrong here! Unless the men are transvestites, I have not seen men wearing high-heeled shoes. Imagine what a man would look like, going to office wearing high heels! How would he defend himself? He will certainly be misunderstood and could even become the butt of jokes. I guess he would buck under pressure, ultimately.

I believe that high heels are great if worn during certain occasions like weddings or social gatherings for a few hours. I would not want to wear them to places where I have to walk or stand for long hours. This could be painful. It is a matter of perception, really. The fact here is that high heels look wonderful on women, regardless of their age. Ladies, enjoy them as long as you can.
